Foreign Investors in Panama Break the Record

Everything seems to indicate that foreign investors in Panama have reached a new record this year.
The real estate boom, the huge expansion of the Free Trade Zone of Colon (ZLC) and the purchase of Banistmo by the British bank HSBC, for 770 million dollars, are key factors that contibute to this historical hight.
The first semester of the year, foreigners brought to the country 491 million dollar, 214 million or 77.5% more than the same period in 2005, says the Contraloria (National Financial Controllers)...

Panama has one of the worlds fastest growing econo
(Source: La Prensa) Economic indicators continue to come out every month showing that Panama has one of the fastest growing economies in the world. The GDP increast $274.2 million dollars or 7.9% between April and June of 2006 compared to the same period in 2005 according to a report recently released by Panama's Comproller General. In the first six months of 2006 Panama's economy has expanded at a rate of 8.1%.

Panamanian Economy Praised In IMF Review

The International Monetary Fund has issued an upbeat assessment of the Panamanian economy, praising the newly-elected government of Martin Torrijos for actions taken to contain public spending, reform taxes and encourage economic growth.
The multilateral body added:
"The mission observed that the government's commitment to prudent fiscal policies is part of a broader strategy for promoting sustained economic growth, including policies for good governance, further integration in the regional and global economy, and improving the international competitiveness of Panama, particularly in the export-oriented service sectors".
